Hi, I'm Alex, the owner of GALAXSAW Handyman Services. After working as a commercial carpenter on large-scale construction projects—including a new Nike facility in Beaverton—I discovered that I enjoy the personal side of construction: helping homeowners, landlords, and local businesses with smaller projects that need attention and quality workmanship.
Today, I provide reliable handyman services throughout the Portland metro area. I specialize in small residential and commercial projects that many larger contractors don't take on, including repairs and installations that can typically be completed in four hours or less. My experience includes electrical and plumbing fixture replacements, PEX-A and PEX-B plumbing work, door lock and hardware installation, door jamb repairs, and many other home maintenance and repair services.
I am proud to be part of the Home Depot Pro Services contractor network and have completed projects for local organizations, including Reynolds School District. I am licensed, bonded, and insured through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB #233510).
Whether you are a homeowner, landlord, or property manager, my goal is simple: provide dependable service, clear communication, and quality repairs you can trust.
Thank you for visiting GALAXSAW Handyman Services. I look forward to helping with your next project.
Bathroom Vanity Installation & Replacement
Replacing a bathroom vanity can make a noticeable difference in the appearance and functionality of a bathroom without requiring a complete remodel. GALAXSAW provides bathroom vanity installation and replacement for smaller residential vanity projects, including customer-purchased vanities up to approximately 50 inches wide.
If your existing vanity is outdated, damaged, or simply ready for an update, we can help remove it and install the replacement, provided the project is suitable for a one-person installation and does not require extensive remodeling or major plumbing changes.
Small Bathroom Vanity Installation
GALAXSAW specializes in smaller bathroom vanity installations that can be handled efficiently as a one-person project. Vanities up to approximately 50 inches wide are generally within the range of projects we can consider.
The exact suitability of a vanity installation depends on more than width alone. The vanity's weight, construction, countertop and sink configuration, access to the bathroom, wall condition, plumbing location, and manufacturer's installation requirements can all affect whether the project is appropriate.
If you already purchased your vanity, send us the manufacturer and model information along with photos of the existing vanity and bathroom. This allows us to look at the project before scheduling and identify potential installation concerns.
Replacing an Existing Bathroom Vanity
Replacing an existing vanity is often a practical way to update a bathroom without remodeling the entire room.
Before the old vanity is removed, it is important to consider the existing water supply and drain connections, the vanity dimensions, flooring, wall condition, backsplash, and available clearance. A replacement vanity may be a different height, width, or depth from the original, and even a small difference can affect how the new vanity fits.
If the new vanity is a different size from the old one, some of the surrounding area that was previously hidden may become visible. Depending on the situation, additional finishing or remodeling work may be needed to achieve a completely different configuration.
Vanity, Sink & Countertop Installation
Many bathroom vanities are sold as complete units that include a cabinet, countertop, and sink. Others require the individual components to be installed separately.
GALAXSAW can install many pre-manufactured vanity systems and work with customer-purchased components. If your vanity includes a sink or vanity top, the dimensions and mounting configuration should be checked before installation to make sure the components are compatible.
If you are purchasing the vanity, sink, countertop, and faucet separately, it is particularly important to make sure the components are designed to work together.
Bathroom Faucet Installation
Replacing a vanity is also a convenient time to replace the bathroom faucet. If your new vanity includes a sink or vanity top, make sure the faucet configuration matches the available mounting holes.
GALAXSAW also provides limited plumbing fixture installation and replacement services, including many bathroom faucet installations within the scope of our plumbing services.
If you have already purchased the faucet, provide the model information when requesting service so the faucet can be considered together with the vanity installation.
Existing Plumbing
The location of your existing water supply lines and drain is one of the most important considerations when installing a new vanity.
Different vanity designs provide different amounts of space inside the cabinet. Drawers, shelves, and other interior components can sometimes interfere with existing plumbing even when the outside dimensions of the vanity appear to fit.
For this reason, photos of the plumbing underneath the existing sink are especially helpful before scheduling.
GALAXSAW can handle appropriate fixture-related plumbing connections as part of a vanity project within the scope of our limited plumbing services. Projects requiring significant plumbing relocation or major changes to the existing plumbing may require a licensed plumbing specialist.
Leveling & Securing the Vanity
A vanity should be properly positioned, leveled, and secured rather than simply placed against the wall.
Bathroom floors and walls are not always perfectly level or square, especially in older homes. Proper positioning can help the countertop sit correctly and allow doors and drawers to operate as intended.
The appropriate method for securing the vanity depends on the design of the cabinet, wall construction, and manufacturer's instructions.
Can My New Vanity Fit?
If you are replacing an existing vanity, the most important measurements are not limited to the vanity's width.
Before purchasing a replacement, consider:
- Width Depth Height
- Sink location
- Faucet configuration
- Drain location
- Water supply locations
- Door and drawer clearance
- Wall and floor conditions
- Backsplash and surrounding finishes
A vanity that is the correct width can still create problems if the plumbing is positioned differently or if drawers occupy the same space as the existing drain or water connections.
If you are unsure whether your new vanity will work in your bathroom, send us the vanity specifications and photos of your existing installation before purchasing whenever possible.
Customer-Purchased Vanities
You do not need to purchase your vanity through GALAXSAW. If you have already selected and purchased one, we can work with the product you have chosen as long as it is suitable for the installation.
For the most useful pre-installation evaluation, please provide:
- Vanity manufacturer and model number
- Vanity dimensions Photos of the existing vanity
- Photos of the surrounding bathroom
- Photos underneath the existing sink Sink or countertop information
- Faucet information, if applicable
- Any manufacturer's installation instructions available
This information can help identify potential fit, access, or plumbing issues before the appointment.
What Happens to the Old Vanity?
Standard vanity installation does not include hauling away the removed vanity or other demolition debris. If you would like GALAXSAW to take away the old vanity, disposal or haul-away may be available for an additional charge. Please mention this when requesting service so it can be discussed before the project begins.
