Hi, I'm Alex, the owner of GALAXSAW Handyman Services. After working as a commercial carpenter on large-scale construction projects—including a new Nike facility in Beaverton—I discovered that I enjoy the personal side of construction: helping homeowners, landlords, and local businesses with smaller projects that need attention and quality workmanship.

Today, I provide reliable handyman services throughout the Portland metro area. I specialize in small residential and commercial projects that many larger contractors don't take on, including repairs and installations that can typically be completed in four hours or less. My experience includes electrical and plumbing fixture replacements, PEX-A and PEX-B plumbing work, door lock and hardware installation, door jamb repairs, and many other home maintenance and repair services.

I am proud to be part of the Home Depot Pro Services contractor network and have completed projects for local organizations, including Reynolds School District. I am licensed, bonded, and insured through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB #233510).

Whether you are a homeowner, landlord, or property manager, my goal is simple: provide dependable service, clear communication, and quality repairs you can trust.

Thank you for visiting GALAXSAW Handyman Services. I look forward to helping with your next project.

Furniture Assembly

Furniture assembly can be frustrating, time-consuming, and surprisingly complicated—especially when today's furniture includes multiple components, unfamiliar hardware, unusual connection systems, moving parts, electronics, or instructions that aren't as clear as they should be. GALAXSAW Handyman Services provides furniture assembly for homeowners who would rather have the job completed correctly and efficiently instead of spending hours sorting through parts and trying to decipher assembly instructions. We work with many different styles and sizes of furniture, from straightforward household pieces to more complicated modern designs. Our furniture assembly experience includes bedroom furniture, living room furniture, office furniture, shelving, storage systems, tables, cabinets, desks, entertainment furniture, and other ready-to-assemble products. We also assemble many types of smart furniture and furniture that incorporates electrical or electronic components, provided the assembly does not require specialized electrical work beyond the manufacturer's intended connections.

Standard Furniture Assembly

If you purchased furniture that arrived in a box and needs to be assembled, GALAXSAW can take care of the assembly from start to finish. We follow the manufacturer's instructions and use the hardware and components supplied with the furniture. Our goal is not simply to make the furniture look assembled, but to make sure the components are properly aligned, fastened, and functioning as intended.

For larger or more complicated pieces, professional assembly can save a considerable amount of time. What may take a homeowner an entire afternoon—or longer—can often be completed much more efficiently by someone who regularly works with different furniture designs and assembly systems.

If you have several pieces of furniture waiting to be assembled, you can also request assembly as a group of projects rather than scheduling each item separately.

Permanent or Reinforced Furniture Assembly

Some customers know from the beginning that a particular piece of furniture will never need to be disassembled. For those situations, GALAXSAW offers an optional reinforced assembly using wood glue on appropriate wooden dowel connections.

Many ready-to-assemble furniture pieces use wooden dowels as part of their construction. When the manufacturer allows it and the furniture is intended to remain permanently assembled, gluing appropriate dowel connections can help create a more rigid and durable structure.

This option is particularly useful for furniture that will remain in the same location for the foreseeable future. It is not recommended for furniture that may need to be moved, transported, or disassembled later, and glue should not be added to every connection simply because it is available. Certain components need to remain removable for adjustment, maintenance, or future disassembly.

If you are assembling furniture yourself and want to use glue, our recommendation is simple: dry-fit and assemble the pieces first, make sure everything is in the correct position, and only then apply glue to the appropriate connections. Once glued, some furniture components may be extremely difficult or impossible to separate without damage.

Indoor & Outdoor Furniture Assembly

GALAXSAW assembles both indoor and outdoor furniture, including weather-resistant furniture designed for patios, decks, balconies, porches, and other exterior spaces.

Outdoor furniture can involve its own assembly challenges, including larger components, multiple connection points, heavier materials, and hardware designed for outdoor conditions. We can assemble the furniture according to the manufacturer's instructions and help make sure the finished piece is properly put together before you begin using it.

Smart Furniture Assembly

Modern furniture increasingly includes features such as built-in lighting, charging stations, motors, adjustable mechanisms, electronic controls, and other technology. GALAXSAW can assemble many types of smart furniture as part of our furniture assembly service.

Because smart furniture varies considerably from one manufacturer to another, the exact scope depends on the product and the manufacturer's instructions. Basic assembly and manufacturer-provided connections can often be handled as part of the assembly. Work requiring new electrical wiring, modifications to electrical systems, or specialized electrical installation may require a qualified specialist.

What to Have Ready

For the smoothest assembly, please have the furniture, all available hardware and components, and the manufacturer's instructions available when we arrive. If the furniture has already been opened, keeping the original packaging and boxes nearby can also help us identify parts and hardware.

If you are not sure whether your furniture is something GALAXSAW can assemble, send us the product name, model number, manufacturer's link, or a few photos before scheduling. This is particularly helpful for complicated furniture, smart furniture, large outdoor pieces, or products with unusual assembly requirements.

Whether you have one difficult piece that has been sitting in the box for weeks or several new pieces that need to be assembled, GALAXSAW can help you get them out of the box and into your home where they belong.
