Hi, I'm Alex, the owner of GALAXSAW Handyman Services. After working as a commercial carpenter on large-scale construction projects—including a new Nike facility in Beaverton—I discovered that I enjoy the personal side of construction: helping homeowners, landlords, and local businesses with smaller projects that need attention and quality workmanship.
Today, I provide reliable handyman services throughout the Portland metro area. I specialize in small residential and commercial projects that many larger contractors don't take on, including repairs and installations that can typically be completed in four hours or less. My experience includes electrical and plumbing fixture replacements, PEX-A and PEX-B plumbing work, door lock and hardware installation, door jamb repairs, and many other home maintenance and repair services.
I am proud to be part of the Home Depot Pro Services contractor network and have completed projects for local organizations, including Reynolds School District. I am licensed, bonded, and insured through the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB #233510).
Whether you are a homeowner, landlord, or property manager, my goal is simple: provide dependable service, clear communication, and quality repairs you can trust.
Thank you for visiting GALAXSAW Handyman Services. I look forward to helping with your next project.
Sink Replacement & Installation | Portland Metro | GALAXSAW
Replacing a sink can be a simple way to update the look and functionality of your kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, or other space without taking on a full remodeling project. Whether your existing sink is cracked, damaged, outdated, difficult to clean, or simply no longer works well for you, GALAXSAW can help with removing the existing sink and installing your replacement.
A replacement sink does not always have to be an exact match to the existing opening. When appropriate, GALAXSAW can modify the existing countertop opening to accommodate a new sink. This may include carefully enlarging an opening in granite, laminate/Formica, or tile countertops when the new sink requires a slightly different size. There is some flexibility in changing the opening, although the new sink must still fit within the available cabinet space. The sink cannot be wider than the cabinet walls or the space available below the countertop.
Before installation, we can look at the existing sink, countertop opening, cabinet space, and the replacement sink you have selected to determine whether the new sink is a suitable fit. If the opening needs to be slightly enlarged, this can sometimes make it possible to install a sink that would otherwise not fit the existing cutout. This is especially useful when replacing an older sink with a newer model that has different dimensions.
Tile countertops require a little more consideration. Removing an existing sink from a tiled surface can sometimes disturb or damage smaller tiles around the sink opening, particularly when the tiles are closely fitted to the existing cutout. In many cases, tiles can be carefully placed back into position and the area can be regrouted, but this cannot always be guaranteed. If your countertop has tile around the sink, we can discuss the condition and configuration of the installation before beginning the work so you understand the potential risks.
GALAXSAW can also work with customers who have already purchased their replacement sink. If you have a particular sink in mind, sending the model information, dimensions, and photos of your existing installation can be helpful before scheduling. This allows us to look at the proposed replacement and identify potential fit issues, including the countertop opening, cabinet limitations, mounting style, and existing plumbing connections.
The installation may include removing the existing sink, preparing or modifying the countertop opening when appropriate, installing the replacement sink, reconnecting the existing plumbing connections, and checking the completed installation for proper operation and leaks. If you are also replacing the faucet, drain assembly, or another related fixture, mention it when requesting service so the entire project can be considered together.
If your old sink needs to be removed and disposed of, GALAXSAW can provide disposal for an additional charge. Standard service does not include hauling away the removed sink or other debris, so please mention disposal when requesting an estimate if you would like us to take the old fixture with us.
Sink replacement is a good option when your existing countertop, cabinets, or vanity are otherwise in good condition. Instead of replacing an entire kitchen or bathroom, you can focus on the fixture that actually needs to be changed. A new sink can make a noticeable difference while keeping the project smaller and more focused.
GALAXSAW specializes in smaller residential projects throughout the Portland metro area, and sink replacement is a natural fit for this approach. Every installation is different, especially when countertop modifications are involved. Projects requiring major cabinet changes, extensive plumbing relocation, or countertop work beyond a reasonable modification of the existing opening may require additional evaluation or another trade.
Already Have the Sink?
That's not a problem. You can purchase the replacement sink yourself and have GALAXSAW handle the installation. When contacting us, it is helpful to provide the sink model or product information along with photos of the existing sink, countertop, cabinet area, and plumbing underneath. The more information available beforehand, the easier it is to determine whether the replacement is likely to fit and whether the countertop opening may need to be modified.
If you're not sure whether the sink you selected will work with your existing countertop, ask before you buy it. A few measurements and photos can sometimes prevent an expensive mistake.
Specialize in small, 4 hours or less interior projects, and exterior assemblies of any size.
